The film Queensbridge: "The Other Side" highlights the other side of a misrepresented and misunderstood community by showing that most people who live in the projects are hard working, law abiding families keeping their children off the streets and in schools and making a significant contributions to society. These are communities that are capable of producing a judge or a junkie, a politician or a pimp, a hood or a Harvard Graduate -either of which can be seen walking through the courtyard wearing a hoodie on a crisp fall day.
The documentary aims to heighten public awareness about "The Projects" and to show that public housing is a positive, viable and necessary housing alternative. The story of Queensbridge: The Other Side is told through the eyes and experiences of those who know it best, the men, women and children of "the projects".
As we all know shelter is becoming a critical challenge for middle class and poor New Yorkers who cannot afford the luxury housing that is abundantly available for the wealthy. One important component of the New Deal was the creation of public housing stock for the middle class and poor. These housing developments were and still are called, "The Projects". The intent was to provide a decent, clean, safe and affordable living environment for its residents. During the 1960's-80's, the conditions in these housing developments deteriorated as middle or working class whites migrated out, leaving behind working class and under employed minorities. As a result of the influx of underserved and socio-economic disadvantaged African-American and other minorities, a stigma was cast on the inhabitants of "the projects". Drugs became more prevalent and crime rose; more people became dependant on the welfare system; and families were decimated due to the introduction of crack-cocaine. As a result, the people who live in public housing are usually perceived to be drug- dealers, crack heads, criminals and dysfunctional people who are a liability to society. This stereotyping makes it easier to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the fact that most project inhabitants are employed fathers and mothers struggling against all odds to make ends meet and educate their children. This stereotyping makes it more comfortable for those in position to effect change to focus instead on self empowerment.
Selena Blake, the Producer/ Director/Creator and Writer of the documentary "Queensbridge: The Other Side," was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She grew up in a very strict household in Old Harbor St. Catherine, the youngest of 6 daughters of Linneth and Kenneth Blake. Selena moved to Queensbridge in 1987. Although not immediately enamored with "the Bridge", she grew to love her new home, primarily because of the generosity of her neighbors. After her son Daniel graduated from High School in 2004, Selena decided to broaden her horizons and open a production company. While filming various productions, she realized it was the support of her Queensbridge community that enabled her to meet the challenges of being a full-time working mother. Thus the documentary entitled "Queensbridge: The Other Side" was born.

Playing an instrument in any form is not an easy task, especially for a DJ. Skill and eye-hand coordination is key. The name FATFINGAZ exemplifies that very notion hand control that equates the resulting sound. Either cutting it up with precise ease or mastering the attention of hundreds of people at one time, DJ Fatfingaz is the representation of a pure DJ. For the past 15 years and counting, the New York Native DJ Fatfingaz has immersed himself in practically every aspect of DJ Culture. Making a name for himself as a force in the industry, his foundation in technical art of party rocking is combined with a background in technical skills. As a turntablist, DJ Fatfingaz accolades are most known as the 1998-1999 R Method Champion, Placing top 6 at the 1999 DMC NYC, 3rd in the DMC NYC Regionals 2004, The 106 & Park BET W.O.W Champion 2005 & The Official host for both DMC USA & The GONG DJ BATTLE presented by G.M. Roc Raida of the X-ecutioners (X-MEN). Consequently his routine was featured in a DVD that arguably most would say was the best New York regional to date along with Fatfingaz both featured on the DMC USA 2008 & GONG DJ BATTLE 2006-2008. The name grew from here as Fatfingaz linked up with the DMC World competition but in this case working behind the scenes. As the understudy to renowned HIP-HOP promoter Christie Z Pabon, his work extended to djing alongs ide A-List Crews such as The Big Dawg Pitbulls, The Heavy Hitters, the Beat Junkies, Crooklyn Clan and more. Before any of this came to be, in 1992, Fatfingaz began his training with his root crew Introbass Productions (IBP). Honing his craft on the wheels, many saw potiential in the young DJ as more gigs came his way. Years later he became a fixture in the NYC Party Circuit, specifically the 18+ & 21+ crowds in NYC (clubs such as:TWILO, TUNNEL. LIMELIGHT, EXIT, AVALON, MARQUEE, HOME, PROVIDENCE, BLVD, LQ'S, STRATA, GUESTHOUSE, TAJ, CHINA CLUB, BB KINGS and more) his name was synonymous with drawing in the crowd. In addition his tra vels lead him to work globally in Germany, Spain, China, Taiwan just to name a few and in all the major cities in the United States. This also led him to work with Odoru & DJ Honda recordings even gaining press coverage on MTV, BET, The Source & XXL. Fatfingaz is also noted by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (Freedom of the Seas: one of the biggest Cruise ships in the world) as their best DJ ever to perform on the month long voyage touring from island to Island. Aside from touring, Fatfingaz has also worked on projects with J Records artists Mark Ronson and Rhymefest for the track "Get Down" adding scratches to make the project more plentiful for the masses to hear. This DJ has performed along at clubs & concerts with such artist as Jin the Emcee, Buckshot of Black Moon, DJ Roc Raida of the X-ecutioners, Fat Joe, Lord Finesse, Joe Budden, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Keith Murray, Jeru Da Damaja, Tony Touch, Mr Vegas, DJ Premier, DJ Pete Rock, De La Ghetto, Tego Calderon, Sizzla, Damian "jR Gong" Marley, Keyshia Cole, Ninja of Mighty Crown, Archangel, The Dipset & Lil Wayne just to name a few. The aforementioned details of DJ Fatfingaz (the combination of technical skill, party rocking, Host of Events/ Crowd Motivator & being a business minded individual) makes him a multiple threat in an industry where DJs are easily disposed. A passionate individual in terms of his Career, he is very adamant about maintaining the love of the crowd. The collective resume further emphasizes that his feet have been planted into the game and moving up is the only direction.
