This was a rematch of a fight between samart and Lak Hin 2 months agao. A little history on the martial art of Muay Thai..... Muay Thai—or Thai Boxing—was born on the battlefields of the 15th century, during the legendary clashes between Thai (or Siamese) armies and their bitter rivals, the Burmese. Trained in the weapons-based fighting method known as Krabi Krabong, these early Thai soldiers also became famous for their toughness in close-quarters weaponless combat, where legs, knees, elbows and hands took the place of swords and sticks. This type of weaponless fighting became Muay Thai, known as the "Science of Eight Limbs." Up until the 1930s, Muay Thai fighters fought bare-knuckled or with their hands wrapped in hemp rope that left nasty cuts. Because of the high number of deaths in the ring, the Thai government introduced new rules, including weight classes (though the great majority of fighters remain in the lighter weight classes) and mandatory use of gloves, cups and mouth guards. The art has grown tremendously since the early 1900's and has finally been getting more notice due to the success of MMA ( mixed martial arts), or otherwise known as cage fighting or Vale Tudo ( which stands for "Anything Goes"). One of the main reasons it is primarily seen in these particular events is cause of it's effectivness in real combat. Most styles dont cover all the different ranges one encounters in real fights. For example: someone well trained in Tae Kwon Do will not be able to defend against someone who can get into punching range or worse, grabbing range where they are in danger of getting taken to the ground. Muay Thai allows the use of every single part of your body to deliver punishment so you can have a plan in pretty much any situation. As far as fitness goes Muay Thai is very vicious and gratifying workout. It hits all the major muscle groups and people love it cause it offers a very dynamic workout. Women especially love it cause the kicks and knees target the lower abs ( a part of the body women generally have trouble shaping). Basically, you will get in possibly the best shape of your life while learning how to effectively protect yourself!
