BE A NIGGA Nasir Jones (born September 14, 1973 known simply as Nas, formerly Nasty Nas, is an American rapper. Son of jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas is well known for his 1994 debut album Illmatic. This album established Nas as one of hip-hop's most profound lyricists, introducing his signature poetic style. Raised in the notorious Queensbridge housing projects in New York City, he represents a continuation of a hip-hop tradition in Queensbridge that has spanned through early hip-hop, including the Juice Crew, Mobb Deep, and MC Shan. Nas, whose given name Nasir means "helper and protector" in Arabic, spent the first years of his life in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. His father, Olu Dara was a jazz trumpeter and his mother Fannie Ann Jones was a Postal Service worker. He has one sibling, a brother named Jabari who assumes the alias Jungle. While in Brooklyn, Nas would listen to his father's trumpet in his house's stoop at age four. The family soon after moved to the Queensbridge Houses, the largest public housing project in the United States. Olu Dara left the household in 1986, when Nas was 13, and Ann Jones raised her two boys on her own. Nas soon dropped out of school in the eighth grade. He educated himself, reading about African culture and civilization, and the Qur'an.He also studied the origin of hip hop music, taping records that played on his local radio station. Nas interests moved away from playing the trumpet as a child to being a comic book hero artist. Nas had settled on pursuing a career as a rapper, and as a teenager enlisted his best friend and upstairs neighbor Willy "Ill Will" Graham as his DJ. Nas first went by the nickname Kid Wave before adopting his more commonly known alias of Nasty Nas. Nas and Graham soon met hip-hop producer and Queens resident Large Professor (William Mitchell), who introduced Nas to his Toronto-based group, Main Source. In 1991, Nas made his on-record debut with a verse on "Live at the Barbeque", from Main Source's LP Breaking Atoms. Despite the substantial buzz for Nas in the underground scene, the rapper was rejected by major labels and was not signed to a recording deal. Nas and Graham continued to work together, but their partnership was cut short when Graham was shot and killed by a gunman in Queensbridge on May 23, 1992. In mid-1992, Nas was approached by MC Serch of 3rd Bass, who became his manager and secured Nas a record deal with Columbia Records the same year. Nas made his solo debut on the single "Halftime" from Serch's soundtrack for the film Zebrahead and became part of the chang gang productions with Freshy C. The single increased the buzz surrounding Nas and when MC Serch's solo album is released later in the year, Nas' standout appearance on "Back To The Grill" only intensified interest. Hailed as the second coming of Rakim, his rhyming skills attracted a significant amount of attention within the hip-hop community. [Mas+detalle]

Often regaurded as the best hip-hop album ever made & one of the better lyrical performers in hip-hop, a very young Nas takes momentum from a dope song in "Halftime" & verse from Main Source's "Live at the Barbeque" off "Breaking Atoms" (also a classic album) & makes a classic album himself in "Illmatic". Album track list: 1.) The Genesis 2.) N.Y. State Of Mind 3.) Life's a Bitch (Feat. AZ) 4.) The World Is Yours 5.) Halftime 6.) Memory Lane (Sittin' In Da Park) 7.) One Love 8.) One Time 4 Your Mind 9.) Represent 10.) It Ain't Hard To Tell [Mas+detalle]

Nas - Be A Nigger Too [No DJ|Dirty|CDQ] Off upcoming 'Nigger' Album NEW One of the more distinctive rap artists to emerge in the mid-'90s, Nas put an emphasis on gritty, poetic storytelling. His dense, percussive mixes, which didn't preclude savvy pop moves, won him both commercial success and critical support. The son of masterful jazz cornetist and songwriter Olu Dara, with whom he has sometimes recorded, Nas was raised in the Queensbridge Houses, a massive Queens housing project that hip-hop pioneers Marley Marl and MC Shan also called home. As a child, he wrote short stories about his life in the projects and conceived his own comic books and screenplays, taking inspiration from the films of Martin Scorsese and George Lucas. He got his break as a rapper when MC Serch (formerly of the group 3rd Bass) picked his tune "Halftime" for inclusion on the soundtrack to the independent film Zebrahead (1992). A deal with Columbia followed, and in 1994 Nas released his debut album, Illmatic (#12 pop, #2 R&B, 1994). Two years later, the followup It Was Written (#1 pop and R&B, 1996), featuring collaborations with Dr. Dre, DJ Premier, and Havoc of Mobb Deep, premiered at the top of the charts and went double platinum. Nas charted highest with the singles "Street Dreams" (#22 pop, #18 R&B, 1996) and "Head Over Heels" (#35 pop, #17 R&B, 1997), on which he guested with Allure. In 1998 he starred in Belly, a gangsta-rap drama from video director Hype Williams. During 1999 he released two albums. I Am... (#1 pop and R&B, 1999) charted highest, fueled by the singles "Nas Is Like" (#86 pop, #30 R&B, 1999) and "Hate Me Now" (#62 pop, #18 R&B, 1999), a duet with Sean Combs. The latter tune featured a sample from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and achieved notoriety when Combs was arrested for allegedly beating Nas' manager, Steve Stoute, over a scene in the song's video in which Combs is depicted nailed to a cross. The video was revised, Combs paid Stoute $50,000, and charges were dropped. After appearing as a guest on Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott's "Hot Boyz" (#5 pop, #1 R&B, 1999), Nas released Nastradamus (#7 pop, #2 R&B, 1999). The void left by the passing of Biggie Smalls lead many to question who would now assume superiority over New York's hip hop world. Stillmatic, released in 2001, spoke directly to the rivalry that was developing between Nas and Jay-Z and featured the heavily circulated singles "One Mic" and "Get Ur Self A...", which swapped pointed lyrical responses with Jay-Z's Blueprint. Nas continued with God's Son in late 2002, followed by the double-disc Street Disciple in 2004. The rapper continued to produce tracks with his esteemed social and intellectual awareness, while taking and dealing out taunts with the new presence of 50 Cent and G-Unit. After signing with Def Jam in January of 2006 (which suggests a reconciliation with Jay-Z), he released the controversially-titled Hip Hop Is Dead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nas Nas - Be A Nigger Too [No DJ|Dirty|CDQ] Off upcoming 'Nigger' Album NEW Nas - Be A Nigger Too [No DJ|Dirty|CDQ] Off upcoming 'Nigger' Album NEW BustNutt.com - Free XXX (Adults Only) [Mas+detalle]

"Stress (Radio Edit)" Zu ft. Killa Sha Dir: Daisu Saikoro Nagasawa "Stress (Radio Edit)" The music video, shot at Sputnik in Brooklyn, is a representation of the underground effort to pull Rap/Hip Hop back from the stronghold that pop/club hip hop has on the masses. Songs like A Bay Bay and Lipstick are catchy tunes but the lyrical quality of songs like Stress have been lost. Help return Rap / Hip Hop to quality and it's roots. Zu Zubair Haque, who is of Pakistani decent, has seemed to accomplish a lot in his short time with music. Born and raised in Flushing, Queens, Zu took the raw style of street music and began to develop a style of his own. His music first hit the airways in fall of 2006, where 90.3 True Skool Radio hosted by the legendary Afrika Bambaattaa broadcasted "Anti-Friendly." At the same time, he appeared on DJ Emmo's "Crunchtime" mixtape. With production by Big Diz, Zu began collaborating with various people, those of which include Queenbridge's own Killa Sha. In April 2007, both took the stage in a performance. What soon followed was the release of "Stronghold", featuring Killa Sha, on DJ Emmo's Thundaground Army Vol.1. Recently the two have made guest appearances on WNYU's 89.1FM Halftime Radio Show, hosted by the world renowned DJ Eclipse.
All this is only a small part of what Zu has in store for us. Set to drop later this year, his "Demon the Dark Sense" mixtape includes a combination of hard hitting lyrics over loops. Its theme is a personal outlook on everyday events, conflicting issues in society, as well as a gritty outlook on the streets, all presented in a raw modern poetic sense. He also plans to work on more collaborations with well respected artists. Expect to see more of Zu, and hear his music on full rotation. Killa Sha Born and raised in the notorious and historical Queensbridge Houses of New York City, Sha-Lumi has had a front row seat to the evolution of hip hop since day one. While being inspired by some of hip hops most influencial pioneers, including Marley Marl, MC Shan, and Biz Markie, Sha has maintained to create a flavor of his very own. Sha first began his career in hip hop as a dj and producer for a group called The Super Kids. The group consisted of himself, Craig G., and Tragedy. Their only release was a 12 single on Nia Records in 1986 called The Tragedy (Dont Do It). Unfortunately, the group later separated. Never being one to slouch, Sha kept focused and began to dj for the infamous Mobb Deep. This was when the world tours began!!! Little did everyone know that on the side Sha was honing his rhyme skills. As time went by, with the skills rapidly improving, Sha formed the group Killa Kidz. The group consisted of himself, Psycho Child (a.k.a. Mr. Challish), Mr. Ruck, and Baby Sham. Their only release was a 12 single on Young Life Records in 1996 called 96 Phenomenon. Mr. Challish and Mr. Ruck were also featured on Nas Q.B.s Finest gold compilation album and Baby Sham went on to join Busta Rhymes Flipmode Squad. In the midst of shopping the Killa Kidz material to various record labels Sha was reunited with his old protg, Tragedy. This reunion proved to be crucial since Sha was to be featured on 5 songs on Tragedys Against All Odds LP. If he didnt have enough on his plate already with the rapping, djing, and producing, in 2000 Killa Sha joined forces with famed NYC radio personality Stretch Armstrong to host The Extra Large Radio Show on Hot 97 (W.Q.H.T.). He also went on to host shows worldwide with Stretch in Japan, Austria, France, and Germany. Over the past few years Sha has been aggressively building his collection of solo material. He has blazed tracks produced by the likes of Alchemist, Marley Marl, Ayatollah, and Sha Money XL, for starters. He also has done freestyles for mixtape djs such as Kay Slay, Green Lantern, Whoo Kid, Camilo, DJ Peter Parker, and Cut Master C, to name a few. All of this has been great preparation for his solo album which is slated for a 2004 release on Diva Don Records in conjunction with Marley Marl. If thats not enough you can always catch him on his radio show "LUMINATI RADIO" on futureflavasonline.com every Friday night from 10pm-Midnight.
