The other day, I stumbled upon ScanAmerica from a twittering peep that was using it to find out about the Denver flight that slid off the runway. ScanAmerica is a streamable source of police and emergency radio. I liked the link and tweeted it out. Shortly, a friend of mine told me how he was listening to this scanner traffic radio along with Pandora playing in the background. I myself have always like meshing of sounds, samples etc in songs and tried it out as well. It works. Its kinda cool. Then I decided this could make for a cool art exhibit or something. I was just showing someone twistori the other day, and then it occurred to me, maybe the mashup of all three could be cool. Now granted the tweets don't match what the scanner traffic is talking about. But its still cool to me and its been fun for the last 15mins or so in making this video. Later i'll have to experiment with translating the scanner traffic in near real time and have it serve up something fast to keep in pace with the radio + go with the music etc. Maybe serve up images, or locations of streets they talk about, or just suggestive imagery around what the radio blip could be about, car accident, a 1022 on a 44 1 adam 12 niner.., or maybe locations on a google map, who knows. Its also fun to think about how for some folks, not everyone i'm sure, this mashup of 3 different types of stimulus sorta works in harmony in the brain. That I can't really explain, yet we do it all the time, surf the web, listen to the radio and watch tv out of the corner of our eye. [Mas+detalle]

Tonight I stumbled across ScreenFlow, yet another screencast app for the Mac. You can never have too many cool video apps ya know. I have IShowU but the demo video of ScreenFlow was interesting so I gave it a whirl. The World of Warcraft capture was smooth. I like how it picked up the in game audio. I was worried that it'd end up making this massive sized video but I found ways to crop it etc. I just hope the original bit is tossed away cause thats gotta be massive at full mac rez capture. I used some basic affects in the tool to pull of the look you see here, expect the fact theres that whole watermark, but you get the idea. Pretty cool, I'll probably pick up this app, its editing and effects end is very basic but you can off some goodness here and there. [Mas+detalle]

So lately I've been seeing all kinds of blog posts of people going using Google Insights drawing huge insightful claims via the tool. It's a cool tool, no doubt, is it real though? I worry that people do a comparison and then jump into a huge wonderzone on what the data means. Graphs pretty there for it backs up whatever my claims I'm tying to make in a blog entry. Its pretty silly really and its only a piece of the picture. Its not end all be all data, and it lacks real understanding of why you are looking at ya see in its pretty composition of lines and maps etc. Too many bloggers right now are going to town using Insights and trying to fill in the blanks on what the data means. Its "search term" not "what people are thinking about right now". There's plenty of stuff I'm interested in that I never put into a search engine there for what.. it doesn't count? What's the validity behind the data? In the end what insight does Google Insights really bring to the table? For me its amusing but hard to really back up with meaning, it lacks context and why and doesn't account for what people don't type into to Google, and yet I get the sense at times that the world outside a search engine, doesn't matter.
