The Black Dynamites/Los Indonesios The band started somewhere in the mid 50's and was best known for their raw musical sound and on stage energy combined with crazy showtimes. The Black Dynamites recorded their legendary first instrumental single Ready To Rock (b/w Gone Gone Away) in 1959 for the Delahaye record company. They became very populair and headlined the famous Dutch Muziek Expres festivals. They also released a second single in 1960, Brush Those Tears/Lonely Cissy (which was released on Top Rank records). The Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios left Holland in 1960 to play the many German rock & roll clubs in cities like Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanau, Berlin, Mannheim, etc. and from there started touring all over Europe, visiting such countries as Belgium, France, Scandinavia, Switserland, Marocco, Spain, etc. In Spain they recorded the classic track Olé, Cordobes! for their first Polydor e.p. called Los Indonesios. The Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios starred in movies/recorded soundtracks with superstars such as Concha Velasco, Rocio Durcal and Claudine Coppin. They also won the 1st prize at the Festival De Leon. The Festival De Leon was broadcasted nationally on TVE and thanks to that the Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios would gain huge populairity. In 1970 they left for Africa. They played in Swaziland and Johannesburg, but also in Lesotho where they performed for King Mosjoesjoe II and his wife. In 1974 they moved to Gran Canaria. In 1977 they finally went back to Holland, the country where it all started for the Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios. They continued playing there up 'till this very day. Shorty Miller - Wo Ist Die Eine (Indorock / Indo Rock / Pop) 1966 Indorocker Shorty Miller a.k.a. Roy Michael (real name=Rolf Pichel) started his musical career in Rotterdam, Holland in the late 50s as a singer/percussionist with Electric Johnny and his Skyrockets. In 1961 he left this band and went to Germany with a renewed line up of the Indorock group the (New) Hurricane Rollers, in order to earn his money as a fulltime profesional musician. The Hurricane Rollers were at the time very well known for their instrumental single Once/Hurricane Beat (Philips 318.248 PF). A few months later the name of the band was changed into the Strangers after having exchanged bandmembers with another legendary Indorock band called Oety and his Real Rockers. The Strangers now consisted of ex-Hurricane Rollers Shorty Miller, Rudi Piroeli and Alfons Faverey together with brother Sammy Faverey (ex-Marlins) and drummer Errol Johannes (ex-Oety and his Real Rockers). After a little while drummer Errol Johannes decided to go back to the band of his brother Oety and was replaced by drummer Radja Dalimonthee. This line up would last until 1963 when lead guitarist Alfons Faverey (Rooie Alfons) was asked to replace Andy Tielman from the famous Tielman Brothers after Andy and his brother Reggy had been involved in a serious car accident. Meanwhile Shorty Miller starts his own group called the Raylads and releases his first solo singles: S-L-O-P/Shepards Slop (Vogue DV 14078), Hey Hey Shorty/Boys (Vogue 14201) and Oh Chiquita/Gib Mir Eine Zweite Chance (Vogue 14213). In 1964 Shorty Miller finally joins the legendary Indorock group the Black Dynamites a.k.a. Los Indonesios. With this band he would eventually go to Spain (1968-1970), Africa (1971-1974) and Gran Canaria (1974-1977). The Tornados - Sittin' In The Park (The 6 Tornados / The Pacifics - Indorock / Indo Rock) 1965 Special request: Enjoy! Featuring Nono de Vries (lead vocals/guitar), Rio Dalimonthee (guitar/sax/vocals), Henk Jansen (bass/vocals), Hans Bürck (guitar/vocals) and Freddie (drums). There's an incredible story going round about this one. Witnesses from that era claim that this song was originally written by Tornados singer/guitarist Nono de Vries, but that he sold it for a bit of money and some cigarettes to his friend Billy Stewart. Apparently Billy Stewart liked the song very much and wanted to see his name on the record label to impress some lady. This story would also explain why this song sounded so different from those other earlier Billy Stewart songs. Anyway, true or not: this is one great soulful version of the song which definitely deserves to heard. [Mas+detalle]

The 6 Tornados - Kiddies Hully-Gully Time (60's instrumental Indorock) / Little Wallflower The 6 Tornados was a group led by bandleader/guitarist Hans Bürck. These 2 songs were released on 7" single on CBS 1426 (Kiddies Hully-Gully Time - 1963) and Comet SCH 42 (Little Wallflower). This band was mainly active in Germany and would later change their name into the Tornados after only 5 bandmembers from their last band line up were still left. As the Tornados they recorded another 7" single in 1965 for Kerston Records (Get In The Groove/Sittin' In The Park - Kerston 60010). Indorock / Indo Rock [Mas+detalle]

Guitar Humoresque (1962) - Electric Johnny And The Skyrockets (instrumental Indorock / Indo Rock) Electric Johnny And The Skyrockets was formed in 1959 by the brothers Jan a.k.a. Electric Johnny (got his nickname for having a daytime job as an electrician), Cor, Daan and Henk Schouten in a Dutch city called Rotterdam. This city is probably best known for it's harbour, but also had a lively Indorock scene in the fifties and sixties with such bands as Oety And His Real Rockers, the Cherokees and of course Electric Johnny And The Skyrockets. In 1960 this band recorded their instrumental first single, Johnny On His Strings/Black Eyes Rock (CNR), which was also released in other countries such as Danmark (Sonet records), England (London records) and the U.S. (Felsted records). It became an unexpected success and was followed by a string of other instrumental singles and e.p.'s. The band also accompanied other artists such as Wieneke den Hartog (Wendy and the Gardenias), Roy Michael a.k.a. Shorty Miller a.k.a. Rolf Pichel (Black Dynamites/Los Indonesios), Siw Malmkwist and recorded a vocal single with the Hovinga Brothers. Soon the band became pretty well known and got invitations from all over the country to play at the many Indo parties and music festivals. Electric Johnny And The Skyrockets developped a truly unique sound blending their Indorock with smooth South American rhythms. A sound that would eventually become their trademark, but their sophisticated guitar parts on tracks like Begin The Beguine and Barcarolle also standout above the rest. After years of success and performing all over the country the band finally called it quits in 1968. Some bandmembers would still occasionally perform for family and friends, but it would take some 30 more years for them to reunite and play their old hits live on stage again. [Mas+detalle]

The Timebreakers - Goldfinger (instrumental Indorock - original 60's live recording) James Bond Radja Dalimonthee - Drums/Vocals Sammy Favery - Bass/Vocals Alfons Favery - Sologuitar/Vocals Franky Luyten - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar Friedl Kuhnke - Hammond Organ/Vocals ************************************* The Timebreakers proved that Indorock was still alive during the 2nd half of the 60's, but they were so much more than Indorock. This band just had it all: superb musicians of which each could also provide some great lead singin' and contribute to some perfect close harmony vocals, a classical trained organ player (who later went on to play with Tom Jones) and of course their top notch Indorock show. Bandmembers had previously been playing in such TOP Indorock bands as the Strangers, the Fender Rollers and the Tielman Brothers. With two former members from the almighty Tielman Brothers (Franky Luyten and Alfons Favery) in the band line up, the Timebreakers could easily compete with the Tielman Brothers and in fact even beat them at their own game at times! Just listen to their fantastic single I'll Be Home and you'll definitely be convinced. Lead singer Franky Luyten did match Andy Tielman's incredible vocal range with ease here. Even Andy Tielman himself could not other than agree on this and he eventually would join the Timebreakers in 1972 for a half year stint! Sinterklaas - Hij Komt, Hij Komt (Santa Claus Boogie - instrumental Indorock - Indo Rock by Ricky and the Rhythm Strings) December 5 is the day that the people (especially the kids) from the Netherlands and Belgium are celebrating the birthday of Sinterklaas (the original Santa Claus) with the traditional "Pakjesavond" (Evening Of Gifts). The older kids and adults are having their surprise parties with homemade works of art and some (often sarcastic) poetry to come along with that. The little kids will have to wait 'till the next day to see if they have gotten any candy or presents in their shoes. December 6 is also the day that Sinterklaas and his friends "De Zwarte Pieten" (The Black Petes) will say goodbye and return to their home. Next year november they will come back with some more goodies and then it will start all over again. About the band: Ricky and the Rhythm Strings are a Dutch Indorock / Indo Rock band from a city called Den Haag (The Hague).
